Economy Worries Brewers At Beer Festival

DENVER (CBS4) ― The slowing economy left a bitter taste at the annual Great American Beer Festival in Denver over the weekend.

Craft beers in particular are hurting because of higher prices. Their unique flavors don’t come cheap and it’s getting more expensive.

Intruder helps self to beer, won’t go

Shortly after 11 p.m., police said, Nicholas Jared Boos, 23, of 436 Black Barren Road, Peach Bottom, left a bar in the 700 block of East Walnut Street and walked to a home in the 700 block of East Madison Street, entering through a rear, unlocked patio door.

Once inside the house, police said, Boos helped himself to two 40-ounce bottles of beer that were in the refrigerator, took them out to a back deck, set them on a grill, and then went back inside the house.

A Beginner’s Guide to the GABF – Our buddy Ed Sealover over at Beer Run Blog wrote a very good article on what the newbies should expect from the GABF, and how to get the most out of it.  Watch the show above and then check out Ed’s full article on his website.

Tech and Beer meet again with this Beer Filled USB drive. Another way to start conversations with girls at the bar that you are to shy to talk to.  Show her you like beer and that you are a tech guy (girls like smart guys with money and beer, right?) with this cute new trinket.

Mail Goggles! Do you suffer drunk emailer syndrome?  Lets take a quick dip in the pool of reality…the girl or guy you were dating two years ago has moved on, emailing them after drinking only embarasses you.  Our friends at Google are here to help with this cool new add-on.

Kochs Sweet Tooth. Jim Koch over at Sammy Adams has done it again.  Sure, brewing chocolate beers is easy, just char the shit out of the malt, right?  Now with Mr. Jim, he is using very high end chocolate in his winter Double Bock.  Way to go Jim, another success, we here at BTTV cannot wait to try it and review it on the show.

Saint Somewhere is now Saint Everywhere. The folks at Saint Somewhere, a moderate sized craft brewery in Florida are now going to distribute nationwide.  We talk about this in detail, or you can read the boring text version right here.

Craft beer sales climb again and all you have to do is buy a $735 book to prove it.  or you could just watch this episode and get the skinny from us.

Got something we should know about? Post it in the forums or Email us at AlwaysHoppy@BeerTapTV.com.

Taste A Beer Made From 45 million Year Old Yeast

Yet another ‘discovery’ made to enhance the taste of your beer. This time the super hit ingredient includes our ‘little microscopic friends’.

A tiny colony of yeast trapped inside a Lebanese weevil covered in ancient Burmese amber for up to 45 million years, has been brought back to life in barrels of modern beer.

Kid Rock has signed a deal to develop his own beer

Kid Rock has signed a deal with the company that came up with the Donald’s brand of vodka, Willie Nelson’s line of bourbon and Paul Newman’s fruit juices and flavored waters to create a Kid Rock line of “premium domestic beer.”

Man Wearing Women’s Clothing Arrested for DUI

A state probation officer is arrested for driving under the influence and drug possession, while wearing women’s clothing.

MIA: Most Interesting Assistant on MOJO HD

It’s a cross between Amazing Race and Survivor. It’s a partially scripted reality TV game show where the Most Interesting man in the world (a big PR campaign overseas for Dos Equis) – who by the way is a fictional person – is looking for a real world assistant. Apparently his last one died… somehow. It’s all tongue in cheek mind you, but still…

Montana Beer Pong: All fun and games until someone gets stabbed

A University of Montana student remains hospitalized after he was repeatedly stabbed over a game of beer pong last weekend.

Aftermath of the In-Bev buyout of A-B

I think In-Bev’s, or as I like to call it In-A-Bev, buyout of Anhueiser Bush has created a global shift in the way overseas beer companies see the United States now. Apparently the Most Interesting Man in the world campaign from Dos Equis is huge overseas, yet I’ve never heard of it before this TV show.

What’s more, In-Bev itself is wasting no time in promoting their beer more here in the States now. I’m a member of several online groups and organization that act as intermediaries for freelance writers looking for work. I was recently contacted by one of them in regards to a new promotional campaign for Stella Artois beer. The initial Email I received asked me what imagery does Stella Artois beer conjures in my mind. I replied honestly, like I always do, with… absolutely nothing. Stella is, or was, the #1 or #2 selling beer in In-Bevs portofolio before the A-B buyout. But that’s overseas. Hardly anyone knows it here. And that’s the problem. In-Bev has Becks, Hoegaarden, Leffe and several others that most folks have never heard of. In-Bev went with another agency.

Mistaken delivery men set up Queen of England for massive kegger

Last week, Queen Elizabeth II was accidentally sent 12 barrels — or as they say in jolly ol’ England, 2,000 pints — of beer. Here’s the kicker: The kegs were intended for the Windsor Castle pub in Maidenhead (five miles away), but were sent to the actual Windsor Castle instead. Can you say first day on the job?!
