Story #1: Story #1: World of Warcraft’s Brewfest – With twelve million subscribers WoW (as it’s known by gamers) is the world’s biggest and most successful massive multiplayer online game. You probably know someone who plays it. The craft beer phenomena hasn’t escaped their notice either as they will be holding a massive in-game Brewfest from September 20 – October 4.
Story #2: U.S. drinkers continue to leave imports on the shelf – “Things just don’t seem to be getting any better for our imported beer shipments. Beer Institute released figures yesterday indicating that imported beer shipments were down another 8.1% in July, bringing year-to-date import shipments down 9.3%, or a loss of about 160,000 case equivs a day.”
Story #3: Are you Enjoying Seasonal Beers this Fall? – Harvest Ales are incredibly popular. According to Information Resources Inc., fall seasonal craft beers generated the highest case and dollar sales last year. Seasonal beers as a category reached new limits in 2008, with sales up 15.7% over 2007 in U.S. supermarkets.
Story #4: Bristol’s Zymurgy Institute – Beer School is back in session at Bristol Brewing Company. This year they’ve partnered with Colorado State University’s Continuing Education department to offer a 20 part lecture series on a variety of beer-related topics that started at the end of August, but you can still attend!
