Show Notes:

UPDATES

Last week’s winner was Gohabs (AKA Charles) who correctly told us what the first movie was to be released in the US with the PG-13 rating. ANSWER: Red Dawn.  How many acts of violence were there per minute?  ANSWER: 2.23 per minute.   And where it was set?  ANSWER: Calumet, Colorado.   Congrats to Charles!

This week’s trivia question is somewhere in the depths of this episode.  We’ll be moving it around often, so be sure to watch the entire episode.

We’ll be doing a State of Beer Tap TV address soon to bring you up to speed on the changes we’re making… stay tuned!

We’re on Facebook and YouTube! And if you want to watch us in High-Def on your Big Screen… we’re now on TiVo under the Food & Drink section.   Additionally, we are the only beer show listed as a “Recommended Website” on the Brewers Association’s new, kick ass interactive CraftBeer.com site.   Go to “Stories” –> Recommended Website –> Craft Beer Web Casts/Pod-Casts or just click here .

BEER NEWS

Story #1: Stone to collaborate with other rock stars of the beer world – In our year end wrap up episode we talked about the trends we were likely to see in 2010.  One of them was the continued collaborative efforts between breweries. Well, Stone keeps the collabrew train rolling… last week they announced who they were going to team up with and it’s a helluva list!

Story #2: Anderson Valley Brewing Co. goes to Brazil – Anderson Valley Brewing Co. won the race to Brazil. The Boonville, California brewing company will become the first craft brewery to officially export its products to the South American country.

Story #3: Chris Wright gets picked up by New York publisher! Author, beer geek, homebrewer and Colorado Springs resident Christ Wright has been self publishing “The Beer Journal” for over two years now. That changed recently when Skyhorse Publishing out of New York signed him to a deal. The target date for publication is next fall and will be printed in full color. Additionally, it will include an introduction from a very well known craft brewing pioneer. More details to come (including price, who will be writing the intro, etc.).

Story #4: Give a pint of blood, get a pint of beer – Cascade Regional Blood Services, a Tacoma-based blood center, is appealing to donors with an eye-catching offer: Give a pint of blood, get a pint of beer.

Story #5: Microbrew sales reach new heights in Japan – Microbrews only command a fraction of the beer-drinking market in Japa, but shipments in 2009 were expected to climb to 34,000 kiloliters -more than double the amount consumed in 2003, when just 14,000 kiloliters went out around the country.
