Beer Buzz 065: Best Beer Presidents

Beer Tap TV News:

This week on Beer Buzz Eli and Erik attempt to Deadlift some beer… while talking about America’s Presidents and their fascination with beer, as well as craft beer’s connection to the health of your bones!  This and more on the only weekly beer news show in the galaxy!

Beer Buzz is the ONLY weekly, televised show that keeps you up to date on what’s going on in the beer world, from the noteworthy to the nutty. Know something we don’t (which is highly likely)?  Email us at alwayshoppy@beertaptv.com and share the news!

Show Notes:

UPDATES

Last week’s winner was wchesak who told us there were four New Belgium logos in the background.  He even found the hard to see Fat Tire bottle, which we were sure no one would get.  Congrats William and thanks for watching!

This week’s trivia question is once again hidden somewhere in the depths of this episode.  We’ll be moving it around often, so be sure to watch the entire episode.  Be sure to pay particular attention to the changes we’re making in HOW you will be winning going forward.  It’s no longer the first person to answer correctly.

We’re on Facebook and YouTube! And if you want to watch us in High-Def on your Big Screen… we’re now on TiVo under the Food & Drink section.   Additionally, we are the only beer show listed as a “Recommended Website” on the Brewers Association’s new, kick ass interactive CraftBeer.com site.   Go to “Stories” –> Recommended Website –> Craft Beer Web Casts/Pod-Casts or just click here .

We filmed a ton of video at the 2009 GABF.  Go watch it here –> Beer Tap TV GABF page and on the GABF video hub page on Examiner.com.

BEER NEWS

Story #1: Beer and Bone Study a Boon for Microbrews? – Last week, researchers at the University of California Davis, published a study showing that IPAs and ales contain a large amount of dietary silicon, a mineral linked to bone health.  A good thing for craft beer drinkers!

Story #2: The Best American Microbreweries – Here are seven of Ask Men Magazine’s  favorite American microbreweries. They’re ranked for the taste of their products and for the hangout factor of their flagship brewpubs.

Story #3: The Best and Worst Presidents (When it Comes to Beer) – Since Monday was President’s Day we thought we’d be patriotic and pour some knowledge into your pint glass regarding America’s Presidents and their fascination with beer. With a little help from our good friend Rick Lyke of course.

BEER RELEASE OF THE WEEK

Deadlift Imperial IPA – Widmer Brewing Company – Portland, OR: Deadlift’s flavor stems in part from the Nelson Sauvin hops imported from South Island’s Nelson, New Zealand’s top hop growing region.  These hops have an intense citrus, fruity, beer-like aroma and flavor not found in any other variety giving Deadlift a simple but fully braces malt backbone with enough malty sweetness and caramel character to complement the incredibly robust hop aroma and flavor. Available on tap and in bottles year-round at select West Coast retailers for  a suggested retail price of $8.99 per four-pack.  This is the first time Widmer has offered a four-pack instead of a traditional six-pack.  ABV: 8.6%
