Story #1: Philly requiring bloggers to pay $300 for a business license – It’s bad enough that the “City of Brotherly Love” was responsible for the Great Philadelphia Beer Raids back in March, now they want to charge ALL bloggers $300 for a privilege license, plus taxes on any profits they made. WFT!? If we were still doing the Beer Douche of the Week… Philly would be the champion of 2010.

Story #2: Denver Rare Beer Tasting II releases beer list – The beers scheduled to be poured at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting II include 26 of the hardest to find brews on planet Earth. If you’re not there… you’re missing out one of, if not, the coolest event outside the GABF. Period.

Story #3: MillerCoors creates craft beer company – MillerCoors has established a craft and import beer business called Tenth and Blake Beer Company in reference to its craft breweries in Milwaukee and Denver.

Story #4: North American Breweries, Inc. acquires Independent Brewers United, Inc. – A few weeks ago North American Breweries acquired Independent Brewers United. The acquisition is the fourth by NAB since its formation.

Story #1: Mainstream media needs to provide more dedicated coverage of craft beer! – Julia Herz is the Craft Beer Program Director at the Brewers Association. She’s also an award winning homebrewer, Certified Cicerone, BJCP beer judge and all around beer lover. Recently she wrote an article for the BA website entitled “A Rally Cry from Craft Beer Muses.”

Story #2: Oskar Blues expands again, takes Gunba year round! – Oskars recently added two more massive 200-barrel fermenters, bringing the tally to seven 200-barrel tanks. Each 200-barrel fermenter adds 400 barrels of capacity per month and brings their current capacity to 5,500 barrels per month.

Story #3: Denver Rare Beer Tasting II announces participating breweries – If you’re going to GABF then you’ll want to be at Wynkoop Brewing on Friday, Sept. 17 from 1-4 p.m. for the Denver Rare Beer Tasting II, which supports the Pints for Prostates campaign. They just announced the preliminary brewery line up which includes over 25 breweries… and it’s a doozey of a list!

Story #1: LA Craft Beer Examiner Chris Spradely appears on Master Chef on Fox – Famous fighting chef Gordon Ramsey apparently hates beer cheese soup.

Story #2: Brewers Association Reports on 2010 Mid-Year Growth – Dollar sales were up 12% in the first half of 2010, compared to 9% growth during the same period in 2009. Volume of craft brewed beer sold grew 9% for the first six months in 2010, compared to 5% growth in the first half of 2009.

Story #3: Kyle’s Brew Fest – A few week’s ago (Thursday, July 22) Erik and Eli went to Kyle’s Brew Fest which was held at Great Divide Brewing Company in Denver. Here’s what you missed…

Story #1: Zane Lamprey bribes Travel Channel – Zane Lamprey’s global pub crawl show Three Sheets has moved on to the Travel Channel where they are running the first four seasons. To say “thanks” and to “encourage” the Travel Channel to pick up a 5th season, Zane and a ton of fans bought the Travel Channel a shitload of beer from Maui Brewing Company.

Story #2: The 10 Most Nauseating Beer Names - Asylum appreciates cleverness and irony as much as the next person. They recently looked into why craft brewers love bawdiness when it comes to naming their beers.

Story #3: Winners announced in 2010 U.S. Open Beer Championships - The US Open Beer Championships is the only brewery competition to include professional breweries and award-winning home brewers.

Story #4: BrewDog and The End Of History – Not long after BrewDog released Sink The Bismarck! – a quad Imperial IPA that weighed in at 41% ABV – Schorschbräu released a 43% beer. Well, the BrewDogs just went over the top again to set a new record with their 55% ABV beer, End of History.

Story #1: Five Best Beers Made in America… according to people who have no fucking clue – The Early Show on Saturday morning recently picked five craft beers as the best in America. It’s bad enough that a television network was behind this attempt at being legit, but here’s the kicker – instead of using a beer expert they called on Food and Wine Magazine editor Ray Isle to make the choices. WTF?!

Story #2: Oregon State fair poops on 2010 home beer/wine contests – Law enforcement officials in Oregon have decided to take a dump on home beer and wine makers competiting in this year’s Oregon State Fair. The irony here is that these competition have been held for 22 and 30 years respectively – UNDER THE SAME LAWS! WTF?!

Story #3: Pennsylvania brewer heads to Arctic Circle for historic beer – On July 25th Chris Bowen – a craft beer lover and brewer – will lead a motorcycle expedition north to the Canadian Arctic where he plans to set up a portable brewery and make 100 gallons of the 1852 version of Allsop’s Arctic Ale.

Story #4: AB InBev tries to make the World Cup its Beer Bitch – Question: Do you have a problem when a horde of smokin’ hot Danish women strip out of their clothes? Neither do we. However, FIFA (and ABInBev), world soccer’s governing body, apparently does.

Story #2: Women Often Better then Men as Beer Tasters – Based on TV commercials, men appear to like beer better than women, and sometimes even more than they like women. Plus, men account for 72.8% of the world’s beer sales. Turns out… women are drinking men under the table.

Story #3: S.O.S. Save our Shores – Abita Brewing is sending out a message in a beer bottle in an effort to assist with the cleanup effort in the Gulf by holding a nation-wide fund-raising effort called “S.O.S. – Save our Shores,” a charitable fund to assist those impacted by the oil spill disaster.

Story #1: InBev Claims Local Brewers Have An Unfair Advantage – Because we feel it’s our duty to keep you abreast of the dastardly deeds that the foreign owned mega corporation that is Anheuser-Busch InBev keeps perpetrating on the American public… they’ve filed a suit against the Illinois liquor control commission claiming local brewers have an unfair advantage because small brewers are allowed to distribute product themselves and InBev can’t. We call BULLSH*T!

Story #2: Light Beer Sales Are Sagging – Advertising Age reported that U.S. sales of the biggest brands are in an alarming slide, with Bud Light down 5.3% this year and Miller Lite off 7.5%. People with taste rejoice!

Story #3: The world’s first Beer Bloggers & Social Media Conference - Will take place November 5 – 7, 2010 in Boulder, Colorado, will bring together an estimated 150 beer bloggers and others involved with online and social media in the beer industry. Beer Tap TV will be there!

Burning Can: The Original Canned Craft Beer Festival – Oskar Blues Grill & Brew at Sandstone Park, Lyons, CO, Saturday, June 26th 2010, 1pm to 4pm. Tickets are $35 via the Oskar Blues Online Store.

Greg Koch from Stone Brewing will be in Colorado for two beer dinners! On June 23′rd he’ll be at the newly revamped Cilantro Mary’s in Lyons, Colorado, and at Wynkoop Brewing Company on June 24.

3rd Annual Rails & Ales Brewfest – On Saturday June 26, ride the Rio Grande Scenic train up to a pristine mountain location at 9,700 ft. for an incredible beer fest with over 20 breweries and 80 beers! Beer Tap TV will be on hand!

Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest – June 4- 5th – The International Chili Society holds its two chili competitions and tastings while microbrewers face off in a prestigious summer ale competition with two brew sampling sessions for festival-goers, featuring 50 plus breweries. New this year, there will be a European and exotic beer tasting tent, making the weekend one of the premier music and beer festivals in the nation. Fanny Hill rocks with hot music all weekend. Beer tap TV will be on hand for this spectacular event!

2010 Monterey Beer Festival & Short Pour Film Festival – Saturday June 5th – The “First Ever” short film festival on the subject of Beer will play at both the 2010 Monterey Beer Festival on June 5th from 12:30pm to 5pm and at the Great American Beer Festival on September 16th –18th , 2010. Beer Tap TV will be featured in this festival so be sure to look for our one minute clip!
